JIMMY’S FAVORITE FRENCH TOAST

 

Recipe: JIMMY’S FAVORITE FRENCH TOAST WITH BOURBON WHIPPED CREAM AND VANILLA MAPLE SYRUP

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of country style bread (cut into 1” cubes and left out to dry)
  • 6 oz. heavy milk
  • 4 oz. heavy cream
  • 5 large eggs
  • 4 oz. unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • ½ oz. Grand Marnier
  • Pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cut bread in 1” cubes and leave out to dry overnight (do not use crusts.) In a small saucepan, melt the butter and mix in corn syrup and brown sugar and whisk gently until smooth and not grainy. Pour mixture into the bottom of a small baking dish. Add dried bread cubes into the dish 2 layers high. Pack tight. In a mixing bowl, add cream, milk, vanilla, Grand Marnier and eggs. Whisk until well incorporated. Pour evenly over the baking dish with bread in it. Cover and refrigerate for 6-8 hours. Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown. Carefully turn out French toast onto serving plate. Dust with powdered sugar, add a dollop of whipped cream and serve with vanilla maple syrup. Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 16 oz. heavy cream
  • 2 Tbsp. Jim Beam whiskey
  • ¼ cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a chilled mixing bowl, whisk cream, whiskey and sugar. Whisk until mixture holds medium-stiff peaks. Hold in refrigerator until service.
